Scott County Booking Photo Records
A booking photograph is an identity image connected with an arrest or custody event. Release does not turn it into proof of a conviction. Illinois FOIA section 2.15 supports access to an available arrest photograph along with basic arrest and custody information, subject to exemptions and other laws. Juvenile, sealed, expunged, medical, security-sensitive, and protected material may be withheld.
Scott County has no jail. Its Sheriff's Office may hold the arrest and transport record, while Greene, Pike, or Morgan County may hold the intake image, booking number, property record, and release log. Ask both Scott and the identified housing jail for the portions each owns.

No Scott Mugshot Feed
Scott County cannot publish a jail roster because it operates no jail. No official Scott inmate app or social channel posting release photos was found. The polished Scott County release roster that search engines may show belongs to Indiana, while another prominent list belongs to Iowa. Neither is an Illinois source.
The possible housing jails also had no official dedicated 24-hour or 72-hour release photo feed in the reviewed sources. Absence from a page does not prove release. Use the Released Last 24 Hours records path to identify the custodian and request a bounded departure record.
Request Scott County Booking Photos
Use a narrow Illinois FOIA request. The Scott procedure says requests are emailed and answered within five working days, with a written additional five-working-day extension when allowed. No county-specific copy fee was established, so ask first and prefer electronic delivery.
- Identify the person by full name and a safe disambiguator, plus the Scott arrest or case number when known.
- Give a narrow date range and state “Scott County, Illinois arrest.”
- Request the arrest record and booking photograph “when available.”

News and agency press releases can help locate a photo connected with a specific event. Date the image and confirm it through the official record. A news report describes facts known at publication and may not reflect dismissal, sealing, expungement, or later release.
Third-party aggregators carry a high risk of stale data, copied images, wrong-jurisdiction matches, and removal-fee schemes. They should not serve as sole proof. An IDOC photo may postdate the county booking. A VINE image may identify a record but does not prove its release event. A registry photo shows a current statutory registration role, not a full sentence history.
Correct Scott County Photo Records
Sealing and expungement are court processes, not simple requests to delete a web image. Expungement generally removes qualifying records as directed by the court, while sealing limits public access to qualifying records. The result depends on the case and order. Use the current Illinois Courts forms; adult forms changed in June 2026.
815 ILCS 505/2QQQ bars covered publishers from seeking or accepting payment to remove, correct, or change criminal-record information. It provides a certified-mail correction route and remedies for specified failures, subject to exceptions. Do not pay a site merely because it reposted an image.
Section 2.15(e) also limits law-enforcement social-network publication of photos for certain low-level matters. That rule is not a blanket secrecy law and does not answer every FOIA request. Ask the publishing office to apply the actual court order or correction evidence.

That local option is useful when an old photo remains attached to a record that may qualify for sealing or expungement.
Begin with the official court record. A photo publisher cannot decide whether an arrest was expunged. Keep a copy of the entered order and send it to each official custodian or covered publisher through the process that applies.
Photo access, social posting, and record clearing are distinct questions. Treat each through its own source and law.
Match a Scott Booking Photo
An image should be tied to a specific arrest record before it is treated as a match. Start with the full legal name and known aliases, then compare the arrest date, arresting agency, booking number, Scott case number, birth date, and physical custodian. A photo from an IDOC record may come from a later prison admission rather than the original county booking. A registry image may be newer still.
Search engines often return Scott County material from Indiana or Iowa. Check the state, agency name, courthouse, and facility address before saving or sharing a result. Even an Illinois image can concern a different event or a person with the same name. The official record should identify the source and date.
If a VINE record offers a photograph, use it to help distinguish results, not to prove the release date. If a housing jail produces the intake image, request the accompanying booking identifier and departure disposition. That record links identity to the actual custody segment.

Scott Photo Access After Release
Online disappearance and agency retention are different. Scott County has no roster archive to preserve a local booking image. A neighboring jail may remove a current record after departure while retaining the underlying file under its records schedule. IDOC can also limit the public portal after final discharge even though corrections directives address release photographs and retained records.
Ask the office that created the image whether it holds the record, which public request process applies, and whether a court order restricts access. Scott County may possess an arrest photograph but not the housing jail's intake image. The housing jail may possess both the photo and property log but not the Scott court disposition. Parallel requests are often necessary.
A sealed or expunged case requires careful handling. Do not infer that a missing photograph proves an order was entered. Obtain the Scott Circuit Clerk's public response or the filed order, then provide that documentation through the relevant correction process. Official agencies and outside publishers may have different duties and procedures.
IDOC photo guidance identifies projected MSR and discharge fields and requires photographs at points in the corrections process, including release or discharge. That means a state corrections image may differ from a county intake photograph in both date and context. If the public IDOC search no longer returns a fully discharged person, a narrow IDOC FOIA request can seek the latest or release photograph where it is disclosable. Include the IDOC number, Scott County as the committing county, and a useful date range.
Keep the image tied to its source. A county arrest photo, housing-jail intake photo, IDOC image, VINE display, and registry image do not prove the same event. Record the agency, image date when supplied, and related booking or corrections identifier.
